Tidewater 216 and 230 test ride
First thanks all of those that gave input on the Tidewater boats. It helped with my division on what boat to buy.

I took a ride on a 216 with an owner and really liked the boat. It was a nice dry ride and the captain really new how to drive. I learned how to use trim tabs. That was new to me. The boat ran great and topped out at 43 with a 150 Yamaha.

I wanted something bigger then my old Boston whaler. I wanted another one but I just can not believe the prices they want for a Boston whaler that is what drove me to find the tidewater boats. They look just as well built to me.

So I took a test drive on a 230 at the dealer in Delaware. He was making some statements about the boat that were hard to believe so I called his bluff.

First he said the boat would get 4.0 mpg at 31 miles per hour. I saw 3.9 most of the time. So that was close. He also said it would do 50 mph. I saw 48 so close again. I guess it is just the dealer thing to exaggerate some but I am still happy with the results.

We were running in a two foot chop and this guy did some crazy turns and wow what a ride. He told me he could run down a jet ski and I think he could with this boat.

It was hard to hold back my excitement because I wanted a better deal but I think I still did good.

We started with pricing around 43K for the 23 footer but I added electronics and digital motor with the electronics shifter, the Yamaha digital gauges with fuel management and I did the 250 hp instead of the 200. I do not usual spend the extra bucks but getting close to 50 mph was cool and shifting felt so different when docking. It was cool seeing fuel usage and mpg when running so I think the extra bucks was worth it.

I can not wait until April to get my boat back on the water, I love my boat and quality! I will put my boat up against any Boston Whaler any day and I know I saved 30K…
