I’ve spent the majority of my life in the marine industry. As a fellow consumer, I know first hand the importance of back up support after the sale. All too often I’ve found myself on the short end of poor service representation… and the disappointment far out ways any other part of the transaction.
The boat business is all about relationships. Learning that sometimes “bigger” isn’t always better, my commitment to the personal approach of doing business remains un-wavered. That’s why you’re more than likely to hear me answer the phone, respond directly to my e-mails, see me on the machines, or even behind the wheel of a trailer rig on the way to making a delivery… again, that personal touch… and my eye always keen to quality.
The relationship between the dealer and the manufacturer is paramount. I find myself very fortunate, as both Chris Craft and Scout Boats are privately owned, lower volume, high quality “family” companies. Having a direct “stake” in their businesses, the principles make themselves available at all times to discuss whatever issues may arise. This means immediate action without waiting for “board approval” of the bigger conglomerate companies; whose commitment is shareholder profit.
It’s actually pretty simple: say what you do, and then do what you say… it’s this philosophy that’s kept me in business nearly 40 years! Think about it… most businesses don’t last 40 months and now I’m taking care of my original client’s kid’s families!
